Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 24, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information this website (the “Site”) processes when you use the “What Is My IP Address” tool, and how it is handled. Request addresses are used for the tools and temporary abuse prevention counters. Hosting logs follow the hosting provider's policy. The Site does not set first-party cookies, and no analytics service is integrated. Speed-test history stays in your browser, can be cleared, and is never sent to this Site. Google AdSense may set advertising cookies and similar identifiers, as explained below.
2. IP address processing
For the primary result, your browser requests this Site's same-origin /api/ip.php endpoint. The Site's server sees the request address, validates it with the server runtime, returns the address and whether it is IPv4 or IPv6, and uses it for a temporary rate-limit counter without saving lookup history. The endpoint never trusts X-Forwarded-For. For geolocation, the browser tries three HTTPS providers in order: ipapi.co, ipwho.is, then FreeIPAPI. It uses the first usable response. ipify.org remains the separate IPv4/IPv6 detector. These services receive your public IP address to respond, as any website you visit does. IP lookup results appear in your browser and are not saved in browser storage. The Speed Test transfers random test data between your browser and this Site's own server. The server counts and discards that data. When Cloudflare is selected, the speed test exchanges test data with Cloudflare (speed.cloudflare.com), which may record the measurement. When M-Lab is selected, M-Lab publishes test results including your IP address as open data; see its privacy policy. The last five speed-test summaries, if storage is available, are stored only in this browser, never sent to the server, and can be cleared from the tool.
2.1 Additional tool requests
The IP Lookup tool sends the selected public IP to one geolocation provider in the browser's shared provider chain; for reverse DNS, your browser sends that address to this Site's /api/rdns.php endpoint, which asks the hosting resolver for a PTR record. The endpoint does not save lookup history; temporary rate-limit files and hosting logs are described below.
The IP Blacklist Check sends the public IPv4 address to this Site's /api/blacklist.php; the server resolver then queries the configured DNS blocklists with the reversed address. No lookup history is saved. The Proxy / VPN / Tor Check sends the public address to /api/proxy-check.php, which queries DroneBL via DNS for IPv4 addresses and compares the address against Tor, cloud, and registry datasets stored on our server. The Port Checker sends a port number to /api/port.php; the server uses the HTTP source address it already sees as REMOTE_ADDR and attempts one TCP connection to that address. It does not accept a target host or save a result.
These endpoints use a temporary file containing a SHA-256 hash of the visitor IP for each endpoint and a request counter. The counter window is limited to at most five minutes; periodic sampled cleanup deletes expired files. The files do not contain a plain IP address or lookup result. The hosting provider keeps standard server logs under its own policy. The WebRTC test gathers candidates only in your browser and sends no candidate list to this Site; the selected public STUN server receives the browser's ICE request, and this Site's existing /api/ip.php returns the HTTP source address for comparison.
3. Third-party services
- Geolocation provider chain: one of ipapi.co, ipwho.is or FreeIPAPI, tried in that order. The first usable response returns city, region, country, ISP, coordinates and timezone. See the ipapi.co privacy policy, ipwho.is service and FreeIPAPI service.
- ipify.org: returns your public IPv4/IPv6 address. See ipify.org.
- OpenStreetMap tile servers: the map loads image tiles from the OpenStreetMap Foundation, which receives standard request data (including your IP) to serve them. See the OSM tile usage policy.
- unpkg: the homepage map library (Leaflet) is loaded from the unpkg content delivery network, which receives standard request data to serve the file. See unpkg.com.
- Google advertising and consent services: AdSense and Funding Choices load Google resources; Google may process request data under its own policies.
4. Cookies
The Site does not set first-party cookies, tracking pixels or fingerprinting identifiers. Google AdSense advertising technology may set or read advertising cookies and similar identifiers, and the geolocation, IP detection and map services described above may process standard request data, subject to those providers' own policies.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense
The Site uses Google AdSense to display advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites and to measure advertising performance. Read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google My Ad Center, aboutads.info/choices, and, for visitors in the EU, youronlinechoices.eu. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are shown a Google-certified consent message before personalized ads are served.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
6. Approximate geolocation
The map and location fields shown by the tool are approximate IP-based estimates, typically the city or region where your provider operates. They do not represent your exact physical address, and the Site never requests your device's GPS or precise-location permission.
7. Analytics
No analytics service is currently integrated. If analytics are added in the future, this policy will be updated before they are enabled.
8. Data retention
The tools use temporary rate-limit files as described above; the hosting provider keeps standard server logs under its own policy. IP lookup results are not saved in browser storage. Speed-test payloads are discarded after counting; the optional speed-test history is stored only in this browser, never uploaded, and removable with the tool's Clear button. The contact form opens your own email application rather than submitting to this Site. Our hosting provider and the third-party services above may keep server or advertising logs under their own retention schedules.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR or California's CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data. The Site keeps the limited temporary rate-limit information described above, while hosting and advertising providers may have their own records. You may exercise rights against those providers and are welcome to contact the webmaster with any privacy question.
10. Children's privacy
The Site is a general-audience informational tool and is not directed at children. It does not ask children for names, accounts or other form data; network requests and advertising identifiers are handled as described in this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will be revised and the new version will be posted on this page.
